Fuck You, Johnny From Jersey

Well, it's been over a week since some douche bag broke into the Cykel Garage and made off with my laptop. What's most grim is that I lost EVERYTHING on that hard drive. All the photos from the last four years, most importantly, photos of my Mom from this summer before she died. Photos from past trips to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, this year's SSWC in Stockholm, Sweden. Countless bike culture artifacts, music, invoices, email addresses; my whole life, basically. Being tied to electronic data in this day and age is an unfortunate reality for a lot of people. It's a double-edged sword in many ways. I'd like to think that I live a simple life, not tied to belongings and material possessions. The fact remains that I've lost a whole archive of my life, things that cannot and will not ever be replaced. 2006 has been a year of very trying extremes. I know that 2007 is going to kick a lot of ass. Because it probably can't get any worse. That said, I will give free coffee for life to anyone who recovers my hard drive. I know that the 12" G4 laptop is pretty ubiquitous, but mine has a broken latch, so the lid doesn't close. There's bound to be some sticker residue on it, as well. Keep your eyes peeled at all the local hipster/wireless hotspots. Of course, even if it is recovered, if I ever find out who the culprit is, there will be blood on my hands. Not joking, motherfucker. Moving on: Rökktober 21 is the Homey Fall Fest. Early reports say it's at the Hobo Camp again, which I think makes a great venue. Rökktober 22 is the Powderhorn Park Cross Race, sponsored by The Hub Bicycle Co-op. Word on the street is that there will be a vendor's row, and that the local F.D. will be hosing down the mud pit prior to the start. If that's not enough, there will be a Nor-Cal Invasion that weekend, featuring Drunkingham, Demonika, Hellayna, and possible E. Richter. I can't wait. Finally, thanks to Twin Town Guitars for being such an awesome neighbor. Respect the Rock!
