Update on Loren Morlock-4-27

Posted April 28, 2006 @ 6:06am | by Hurl

Dear Family and Friends of Loren, Once again there's not much new to report on Loren's condition. His medical staff has decided to keep him on his ventilator a while longer. He was breathing on his own for most of the day, but still they are erring on the side of caution with their choices. Sadly, this means that his sedation has to remain at level that allows him to cope with the discomfort the ventilator causes him. I can see the fire in his eyes through the haze of his medicine and sense his desire to wake up - still he needs to stay in a holding pattern for another day or two until his lungs have cleared up a bit more. He's also running a fever of 100 to 101 degrees, and his cranial pressure hasn't dropped to normal healthy levels. His readings are common for someone in his place, but of little comfort when one wants nothing more than to see him back on his feet. It's hard to witness the high-energy guy Loren is in such a heavily sedated state. I think that we all need but be patient until we see significant improvements in his health. I began to set up a website for all of us to use as a means to communicate with Loren and Jennifer and their family during his convalescence. It will be up and running tomorrow sometime. I would like to finish it this evening but I'm opting instead join Jennifer and the kids, and an old high school friend of Loren's, for dinner. His friend Terry lives here in Boulder and we're join him and a few others for a quiet dinner out. Thanks from all of us here for the outpouring of support. Keep the faith, and keep Loren and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Steve Porsborg
