State CX

Yeah. Fuckin' killed it. The State Cyclocross Championship on Sunday at Bassett Creek was phenomenal. Kenwood Racing hosted the best bash of the year, with the Super Fan Tent, brats, beer, and bellicose race fans.

I race the C race. C is for cigarette. Check out the HOLESHOT! I didn't preride the course and some errant tape flapping in the wind had me unsure where the first turn was. Not that it would've mattered. After a typical fast start I slid backwards, finishing 21st of about 40. Fantastic crowds make for fantastic fun racing.

The rest of the afternoon was spent absorbing the rad atmosphere of the B and A races, beer in the crisp sunshine, hot racin' action, too. Congratulations to B race winner, State Champ Sean Burns. The bigshot A race was pretty sick, with multiple lead changes before former Junior World Cross champ Matt Kelly rode away from the stacked field. Minnesota expatriate Brent Prenzlow rolled in second sporting the H-Wood colors. Aric Hareland was looking good for third until Jesse LaLonde caught him on the final run-up punked him at the line. Dicin'! Hareland was still the first Minnesota rider across, and claimed the MN State Title. Hot Dang! What a cool scene we have! Thanks to all who made the event a success.
