Bikes Vs. Cars

Posted February 11, 2016 @ 2:14pm

Bikes Vs. CarsIf you're in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, mark your calendars for Monday, March 7, and Tuesday, March 8 for the local showing of Bikes Vs. Cars at the Trylon Micro Cinema. "Bikes vs Cars depicts a global crisis that we all deep down know we need to talk about: climate, earth's resources, cities where the entire surface is consumed by the car. An ever-growing, dirty, noisy traffic chaos. The bike is a great tool for change, but the powerful interests who gain from the private car invest billions each year on lobbying and advertising to protect their business. In the film we meet activists and thinkers who are fighting for better cities, who refuse to stop riding despite the increasing number killed in traffic."

Santa Cruz Hightower!

Posted February 2, 2016 @ 6:24am

Santa Cruz Hightower!Today Santa Cruz Bicycles releases the Hightower, a bike which can accomodate both 29" and 27.5+" wheels without altering the geometry. A high/low setting on the frame's rear suspension linkage allows for 29" wheels and a 140mm fork, or 27.5+ wheels and a 150mm fork, both maintaining a 67° head angle. The long, low stance of this bike should lean it toward big, burly, all day adventures. Depending on terrain, and riding preferences, this rowdy machine could take on the highly elusive, (and hyperbolic) tag of "quiver killer." And while it is not the case, I like to think this new ride is named after the late, great Bubba Smith's character "Moses Hightower" from the Police Academy films.
