Good Lord. Another evening of high-octane ROCK w/ Early Man/Priestess/The Sword in the 7th Street Entry. The Sword describe their sound as "like a herd of bison being ran over a cliff." Pretty accurate. These Austin, Texas boys delivered a cascading wall of sound with a very precious early Sabbath feel. Couldn't get enough. Then Montreal's Priestess took the stage and pummeled the crowd with mad guitar power, a Todd Johnson-esque frontman, and a monster drum solo. But Early Man, Brooklyn's (via Ohio) answer to all things sludgy, a la Maiden/Judas Priest/Slayer redeemed themselves for their lackluster performance last fall. The Over 30/Closer to 40 Mosh Pit went off as predicted, and plenty of beer was spilt. Somehow I managed to make it to the shop to open by 7 am this morning. B-Rad, you lose!
