Happy Birthday Buzz

Posted April 27, 2004 @ 6:06am

First things first: Happy Birthday to my sister Buzz. (what kind of family has kids named 'Hurl' & 'Buzz'?!?!?-ed) She's pretty busy these days as a research scientist and a mom, but she still finds time to ride her Bridgestone. Go Buzz, Go!If you haven't yet, rush out and buy the latest slab from ZEKE. If you like your rock fast and furious, with shades of Motorhead and Black Flag, well, then what are you still sitting there for? And if you like your coffee with a dose of bike, then get thee to the newly opened GO! Coffee Bar, in the nucleus of the infamous One on One Bicycle Studio.

head colds, recumbents, and rock and roll!

Posted April 17, 2004 @ 6:06am

Today I'm missing out on the Zeigmeister Brewery Tour Ride, in honor of host and proprietor Pintz Guzzled's birthday, all because I have a frickin' head cold. How the hell do you get a cold in the spring? I don't know, but I do know I need some rest, as I leave for Fruita, CO and the Fat Tire Fest next week. Don't want to be illin' for that. Hopefully I'll be aboard a prototype VooDoo Wanga One, with the slotted dropouts for some single speed finesse. In local action, I'm working at a shop again here in Minneapolis. Calhoun Cycle is the premier recumbent and folding bike dealer in the Midwest. It's pretty interesting as this is a segment of the industry I've never dealt with. I doubt I'll be riding a recumbent anytime soon, and it may not seem as glamorous as the hipster coffee bar hangouts, but the shop's approach to alternative transportation is refreshing, the staff is truly fantastic, and of course there's the added benefit of getting to work with the Wrexican! Finally, I...

Keep your eyes peeled for a Seafoam Saab-KAR-553

Posted April 15, 2004 @ 6:06am

Minneapolis. If you see a late model Saab, license plate KAR-553, color seafoam (mint?) green, by all means, harass, harangue, and/or just fucking throttle the driver/occupants. Tonight, riding home from work around 7:30 pm near Lowry Hill these two jackoffs waited for us to cross an intersection, even though we had a stop sign and they didn't, and after we passed they turned, followed us and and as they got next to us threw a bucket of water on my back. I gave chase and caught 'em at the next corner, heaved my U-lock at the hood giving it a small dent, but what I wouldn't have given for a full on nuclear assault. I was seething, and these two frat-boys knew it as they roared away in Mommy's little monster. I wanted to break their windshield and their fucking kneecaps as well. In retrospect, it was just water, and I continued to my original destination – the liquor store for a 6er of MindBlock. No one was hurt, but why do motherfuckers think it's alright to hassle cyclists? I...

Keep America Rollin!

Posted April 10, 2004 @ 6:06am

So you think that cars are necessary, right? Well, read this and then talk to me about "social engineering." Fucking right on. Keep America Rollin! But hey, those hybrid cars should be available soon, so it's all ok...And Bush Co. will certainly soon, to steal a phrase from everybodies favorite Big Box behemoth Wal-Mart, "roll back prices" on gasoline. So don't fret, overextend yourself, buy that Hummer and live the American Dream.
