Lamont, I'm Having the Big One...

Sir Jon Fleck, Esq. dropped by the Cykel Garage today with his newly assembled Surly Big Dummy. Damn, those things are cool, and it's just a matter of weeks before the 20" size arrives. And by 20" size I really mean "my" size. Ahem. But I digress. [edit: 20"s just arrived in stock at Qube Farm. Mine is ordered and will be picked up manana; woo-hoo!] This is Fleck's first foray into the longbike. He says he digs it, but that it took a boatload of Framesaver to coat those tubes. I believe him."Grady, pass me some more ripple..."The pink Chris King headset is a nice touch, and adds a bit of color to the behemoth. "It's such a dark bike," sez Fleck. Is he talking about its soul?A man and his machine.

Slick 50 Recon: Drop the Hammer!

Posted February 24, 2008 @ 6:06am

Saturday brought sunshine and hangovers, and the intense need to put some miles in. 49x15 Clayton and I headed out on the familiar western Hopkins trail, bootlegging up to the Minnetonka LRT line for some easy rolling. At Cty. Rd 19 it's du nord to Cty. Rd 15 and east back to town via Lake Minnetonka and Wayzata. A nice 3-hour tour.No real aggressive moves for sprint signs, etc. –it's a bit early for those shenanigans– but I did, in fact, Drop the Hammer. Shortly after turning onto 15, I scored a sweet road trophy, lying on the shoulder. A fiberglass-handled claw hammer. Below, you can see me "dropping the hammer." Trevor never knew what hit him...(I'm killing myself over here! Thanks, I'll be here all weekend...)Lastly, a hearty FUCK YOU to the guy driving the TK Lawnscaping truck out near Minnetonka. Dude, your engine-revving prowess is certainly unmatched in all of Dickdom. At $3 a gallon, you probably burned through $22 of pure rage right there. Nice work.

Slick 50, Saturday 15, March 2008

Posted February 22, 2008 @ 6:06am

The Annual Spring Masher is just around the corner, slated for Saturday, 15 March. This is your first warning.Until then, it's time, –in fact it's way past the time– to get ready for the Ragnarok 105 soul crusher. Tomorrow, temps are slated to head upwards of 30° so that means 3 or 4 hours in the saddle, fatboy...
