Update on Loren Morlock-Cinco De Mayo

Posted May 5, 2006 @ 6:06am | by Hurl

Dear Family and Friends of Loren, The majority of my friends (and other fellow Americans) are out this evening celebrating Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday honoring their tequila industry. I'm sitting at home alone, drinking my own private margarita, which is just fine with me, as I have nothing but good news to pass on. Jennifer called shortly after six this evening to inform me that Loren had a great day today. He was awake and alert, responding to commands, and holding her hand - and for the first time since he entered the hospital - Loren was completely there with her, answering questions and sharing the moment. He had visits from his occupational and physical therapists, and successfully completed the exercises they presented to him. Jenn was thrilled to be communicating with Loren, albeit nonverbally. But who cares, when there's so much more to life than mere words will ever describe? As I mentioned a few messages ago, I'm back to work at my day job. I've been busting up concrete yesterday and today, leaving me quite exhausted at present. Before long, it will be lights out this evening for this cat. Tonight may be the first time since Loren's fall that I'll sleep well, though not because I'm physically exhausted. Finally, I feel like I can rest assured that, in Jenn's words: "things are going to be ok". Thank you all for continuing to keep Loren in your thoughts and prayers. Sincerely, Steve Porsborg
