True to form, the rain keeps coming down; if I wanted to live in Portland, I'd move there, dammit! Nevertheless, there is a Memorial Day Ride going down, leaving at 1:30 from the Bandshell. Come out early and watch the Pro/1/2 Criterium starting at noon. If the weather is gnarly, then we'll just ride down to Zito's for some hot bbq grillin' action. Bring yer' rain pants...
Gawd Damn, it's nearly June and we're still slogging thru a wet spring, temps hovering in the 50's. Enough already. But it can't stop the bike culture bum rush. The StrongArm Marketing Bike Swap went off well, aside from Randy Lieberg's brand new 1x1 getting jacked. It's a white 18" Surly 1x1 with a telltale gold Chris King headset, grey Marzocchi fork, Avid mechanical discs, and Paul brake levers. Lots of red accents. Keep your eyes peeled and if you see it, throw a lock on the rig and a beatdown on the perpetrator. MOCA's wednesday night trail maintenance has begun at Theodore Wirth Park. Get over there tomorrow at 5 pm and throw some dirt around. I won't be able to join this week, but if you need a recumbent, come see me at Calhoun Cycle. The Wednesday Night Ride is rumoured to have some chicas on it tomorrow night. Get over to the bandshell before 10pm to find out. Just one of many scheduled stops might be Lee's Liquor Lounge to see the Rockin' Pinecones.Thursday night...
Sources close to the Minneapolis Mafia have confirmed that Eugene Paul Oberpriller was dropped on last night's Wednesday Night Ride for the first time in the ride's sordid history. Brauer Power reportedly put the screws to the pack and Oberpriller, better known as "Gene O", was shot off the back like a roman candle, and just could not hang on. In other nooze, the annual StrongArm Marketing Bike Swap will be held again on Sunday, May 16 in the alley behind One On One Bike Studio, (also known as the alley behind Sex World). 12-5, lots of great deals to be had, and two (2) count 'em rock bands will be playing. Stay tuned for further details and flyers, coming soon! Now back to you in the studio, Tom!
Back from Fruita, where the rides were excellent, the stitches for Denver Johnny plentiful, and the amount of bad luck I had with the bikes incredible. First, FedEx dented the Kona downtube in shipping. Next, the new VooDoo arrived with a dented headtube, and finally, BradLee and Ken the Communist ran over my new wheel on the way to 18 Road. Rotor bent, skewer got skewed, but the wheel remained strong. Will post pics of the VooDoo when it returns via MoJoe, who took a detour to Moab. There is no more Tecate in Fruita...
